My Story
I am Will Sinclair and briefly, this is my story.
For over 40 years, I have been an International Head-Hunter, sourcing executive talent, describing opportunities that could change their lives and their fortunes. In that time, I have spoken to over 50,000 top executives. The things that I noticed about these highly successful people, regardless of how confident they appeared to be, was that the vast majority were suffering from some level of insecurity. Whether that was sparked by a ‘fear of failure’ or ironically a ‘fear of success’ or by an ‘Imposter Syndrome’ where they felt like frauds who didn’t deserve the accolades being heaped on them and they were waiting to be found out.
Over the years, I developed relationships with these top
executives and started to counsel them, offering mentorship and guidance. I
have successfully helped many of them navigate and negotiate the highways and
byways on their path to corporate success, many have now become CEOs and Chairs
of the largest corporations in the world.
My mix of understanding corporate culture, zen philosophies
and techniques, lifestyle balances, the importance of knowing when to jump ship
or stay put, and when it was the right time to promote a successor, have all
played into this moment, the creation of this website the ‘Art Of
Becoming’ anything you want to become.
This website the ‘Art of Becoming’ is the culmination of a
lifetime of mentoring many of my top executive colleagues, CEOs, CTOs, CFOs,
Snr VPs, of some of the largest global S/W corporations. Helping them to tackle
the problems they have encountered on their career paths. This website is
dedicated to you, whether you are just starting out, or whether you are on the
top rung of your game, the Art Of Becoming, was created for you.
It is my experience and belief that you can become anything
you want to become, without limitation, without compromise. You can become your
authentic self, happy and comfortable with who you are, confident in the
knowledge that you don’t need to bow to anyone.
We are currently witnessing a fast changing corporate
landscape, with it’s acquisition culture and the huge influence of AI tools that
will mean change for a vast number of Executives. This poses questions like: Is
this the right time to pursue my other dream? How do I build career resilience?
How do I stay ahead of the AI curve? How do I embrace career change without
fear? Why I should review my 5 year plan, annually? and many more challenges
that I hope to help you overcome with my blogs and podcasts.
I live in Wales in the UK. I love to hike the coastal paths, and clifftops, and meditate in the serenity of the mountains (my nearest is Snowden), I love playing guitar and watching artists performing live.
